On February 19th, Boston based metalcore group Ice Nine Kills officially became a part of the Scream universe by releasing “Twisting The Knife” featuring Mckenna Grace, who also co-stars in the seventh installment of the popular horror franchise. Taking a step back from their typical blend of fast paced theatrics, INK’s latest track opens with haunting vocals over a floating piano. The waltz-like rhythm is reminiscent of “A Grave Mistake” (Silver Scream, 2018) and adds a sense of drama to the song.

Spencer Charnas and Mckenna Grace’s voices complement each other well as they dance around each other in what is more of a proper duet than a feature. The harmonies are crisp, clean, and showcase each performer’s voices well. The lyrics are classic Ice Nine Kills with elements of the Scream franchise woven in throughout.

Honestly, I'm not free 'til it's me twisting the knife

So, I'm screaming for my life again

At first listen, the song may not be impressive to a casual fan’s ear. But if they listen a little closer, they will hear the care and cleverness that Charnas builds so beautifully into his music. “Twisting The Knife” complements “Your Number’s Up” (Silver Scream, 2018), the first song INK penned about the franchise, and is a worthy addition to the Scream anthology.

“Twisting The Knife” is now on all popular streaming services.

INK has confirmed a new album is to be released later this year. They are scheduled to appear at Welcome To Rockville (Thursday, May 7th) and Louder Than Life Festival (Saturday, September 19th).
