Electric Callboy delivers an explosive new single "TANZNEID." This track fuses modern metalcore riffs, electronic hardstyle components, pop choruses, and a hint of punk, compelling listeners to hit both the dance floor and the mosh pit. "TANZNEID" is fun, energetic, and proves to us that Electric Callboy is leading the charge with their party core or dance core style.
"TANZNEID" begins with a hardstyle electronic rhythm with Nico Sallach's clean vocals. Immediately, you feel the energy building up, but with Electric Callboy, you never know where they are going to go next. Then the guitars and drums come in with the high-energy metalcore riffs Electric Callboy is known for. That, mixed with Kevin Ratajczak's raw vocals, will make anyone lose their mind to the energy being pushed through the speakers.
The chorus provides listeners with a nice break from the intense, in-your-face high energy. In the first chorus, Nico's clean singing ability is showcased, accompanied by synths and a straightforward guitar riff that mirrors the synth progression. The two instruments together coincide with Nico's clean vocals, allowing the listener to concentrate more on the lyrics. As the chorus progresses, the synths begin to build, adding a drum pattern to the beat, and come out swinging again with high energy for the post-chorus.
I appreciate the song and the artist's choice to revisit the intro before starting the second verse. This creates a buildup with the brief pause, which I find more impactful than immediately transitioning into the second verse. Additionally, I like how Kevin screams the final part before diving into the high-energy verse.
The second chorus in "TANZNEID" doesn't hold back. You have the legend Frank Zummo pounding on his cymbals, while Daniel and Pascal deliver full chord guitar riffs. Even with everything turned up to eleven, you can still hear Nico's cleans and lyrics perfectly. This chorus highlights Frank Zummo with his quick fills and kick drum pattern; it adds just a little flair to the song.
Where this song takes an unexpected left turn is the interlude, shifting from high-energy metalcore riffs to high-energy hardstyle. While the hardstyle section is not what I was expecting, it fits seamlessly into the song. What I appreciate about this part is that the band allows the electronics to shine. There are no guitars, drums, or vocals other than a quick scream; it's purely electronics, reminiscent of EDM. And just like that, the song takes another left turn, transitioning from hardstyle to hardcore with one of, if not the heaviest, breakdowns from Electric Callboy. The first time hearing this section was an instant stank face, and I was grateful I had my cruise control set, or I would have been doing 100.
After the interlude and breakdown, the song goes back to the third chorus, seamlessly blending elements from the first two choruses. It begins just like the first chorus, with Nico singing accompanied by synth and guitar in the background. The second half transitions into the full-sounding chorus. I really appreciate this because, after the energy in the interlude and breakdown, I needed a little break from the intensity. When I was ready to dive back in, the chorus hits for the second time, except Frank Zummo plays a four-count on the snare, allowing the song to breathe.
The outro returns to the hard-hitting drumming with the kick-snare pattern that flows so well with the guitar riffs and the background electronics. I also appreciate how the ending gives the listeners one last breakdown and scream from Kevin before concluding.
The production on "TANZNEID" is some of the best I have heard from Electric Callboy. In previous songs, there were times when you would lose hearing on certain instruments or with the electronics. But here, you can hear every little detail in this song. "TANZNEID" sounds full, feels full, and is full! And the music video captures the energy.
“TANZNEID” kicks off with a sense of playful chaos, something Electric Callboy is famous for in all their videos. However, “TANZNEID” combines elements of part dance-party, part horror, part sci-fi, and part comedy. The video is entertaining with its visuals, exaggerated party scenes, choreographed dad dance moves, and a more theatrical approach to the video.
The cinematography and visuals in “TANXNEID” are top-notch. This music video has a blend of 1980s visual style with contemporary cinematic techniques. The lighting is on point with its bold, high-contrast style and a stylized approach. The strobes and flash moments complement the song’s energy, giving a sense of movement. The lighting, cinematography, and song all coincide with each other. The entire team behind this music video did an outstanding job. Bravo!
I need to acknowledge Electric Callboy for dedicating time to create music videos that are fun and memorable. Many artists don't invest the same time or effort in their videos, and it becomes evident. Nothing against other artists, and I understand that there are circumstances that hold them back, such as funding, time constraints due to press and tours, and the current focus on going viral rather than relying on music videos to make or break an artist. I, along with the fans, really appreciate when artists such as Electric Callboy put in the effort and make amazing music videos.
I also need to mention Kevin Ratajczak's raw vocals. I don't know if it's just the producer doing some fine-tuning or if he has changed up how he screams, but it's evident that they sound different and in a good way. In their previous album "TEKKNO," his raw vocals were good but felt like they were lacking in the lower end. However, in "TANZNEID" and the other recent singles, Kevin's raw vocals have stood out with a fuller sound.
"TANZNEID" is some of Electric Callboy's best work. From the progression through the song, the deeper lyrics, and the production quality, this is an absolute banger.
